Many businesses and individual Search Marketing professionals have been losing sleep thinking about the next big change in Google’s search algorithm, dubbed as Google Penguin 4.0. But now it is confirmed that there won’t be any changes in Google algorithm until next year.
Earlier this year, a Google employee posted via Twitter that Google Penguin 4.0 may release this year. Google already indicated a major change in how websites show up in search engine results. The Google Penguin 4.0 update is will work in real-time. It means that Google will check and analyze the links to your website in real time and search algorithm will updated the rankings accordingly. The process will take place in (almost) real time.
What is Google Penguin and why does it matter?
Google periodically refreshes and updates its search algorithm in order to enhance the search results for each search query performed by user on Google search. The set of these updates and changes is dubbed as Penguin. Penguin 4.0 is an upcoming update which is expected to release sometime in 2016.
Should I be worried about the next algorithm update?
Maybe yes maybe no. But ethically yes. You should be watchful and be prepared so that you will not fall. Since the release of Google Penguin in October 2012, many businesses have seen mind-boggling changes who witnessed sudden fall in their page rankings as a result of the big changes in algorithm.
The first step you can take is to check who is linking to your website. Make sure that those links are relevant to your industry and field of work. Check how many links you have and how many of them are listed as follow or no-follow. After reviewing your link profile, you should also check the domain authorities of these sites linking to your website.
If you have a website, take advantage of the delay in Penguin update. Review and clean your links up. If you find any bad links, disavow them.
